Propair air ambulances respond to medical emergencies within a 90-minute window at most, and each intervention is carefully planned by our medical coordination unit. The escort team’s makeup will vary depending on the type of care required. The patient’s case is taken over at the admitting hospital centre by physicians, respiratory therapists and nurses, who oversee his care until he reaches a specialized centre, if applicable. State-of-the-art medical equipment, a leading-edge transfer mechanism and our attentive team transform our aircraft into a flying ICU where the patient’s safety and comfort are our first priority. All of Propair’s aeromedical personnel have received training from the Canadian Aerospace Medicine and Aeromedical Transport Association (CAMATA), as part of a program certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Canadian Nurses Association.
